2015 was a very busy year! My next blog post I will post photos of all the weddings and engagement sessions that we did, but for now here is an update on what has been going on.
It's been quite sometime since I've been posting on our Facebook page. Any of you that know me know that I've had migraines most of my life, and around Thanksgiving they started getting very bad. I had a headache every single day, and a migraine once if not twice a week. They gradually kept getting worse and in February my arms started going numb when I would have a bad migraine to the point where I literally could not move my arms. I've had several doctor visits and wasn't finding any relief - taking up to 18 pain killers a day! (Ibuprofen, Naproxen Sodium, Extra strength migraine - nothing helped!).
A few weeks ago I had an MRI done on my head (my mom passed away in 2007 from a brain aneurysm, and while that doesn't greatly increase the chances of me having one, it is slightly higher). So my doctor wanted to make sure nothing serious was going on.The MRI came back normal, which is good but bad because I still don't know what's wrong with my head. I see a neurologist next week on the 22nd so we'll see if I get any answers.
Anyway, on Sunday the 13 I got a piercing in my ear called the Daith Piercing. I've heard of several people getting this done for migraines, some it helps some it doesn't. I'm already on several medications so I thought I might as well try this to see if I could stop taking something. It's only been 4 days but every day since I got this piercing I haven't had a migraine and hardly no headaches! I went from taking 12-18 pills a day to 0 to 4 which is amazing. I haven't had a day without a headache since Thanksgiving if not earlier so this week has been a huge relief! I'll be honest, with wedding season coming up I was getting a little nervous having to photograph weddings with such bad headaches.
I'm still hoping the neurologist will have some answers for me about the loss of feeling during some of my migraines, but for now this piercing has been a life saver. Hopefully I will continue to get better and I'll be back to posting on our FB and blog more regularly.
I also very much need to update our website! So that will be coming soon as well.
I'll be back on the blog in a few weeks with our photos from 2015 :)
